About Mary
Mary, a Springfield, Illinois native, attended Saint Louis University for her physical therapy degree. She competed as an NCAA swimmer while studying physical therapy. Her experience in competitive swimming fueled her interest in exercise physiology, kinesiology, and biomechanics. Her full time clinical rotations included inpatient/acute care in physical therapy at Springfield Memorial Hospital (formerly, Memorial Medical Center).
Mary began her professional career at St. John’s Hospital. She primarily worked with hospitalized patients receiving care in orthopedic, medical/surgical, ICU, cardiac, neurological, and skilled nursing units. While working at St. John's, she gained a unique experience working with physiotherapists from the New Zealand, the UK, and other countries. Later, she fully transitioned to outpatient rehabilitation services, focusing on patients with orthopedic conditions and vestibular and balance disorders. Initially placed at the hospital, she eventually moved to St. John’s Therapy Care on S. Sixth Street.
Leveraging her expertise in working with medically complex patients, Mary was recruited to become a lymphedema therapist. In 2011, she attended Klose Training and became a certified lymphedema therapist, treating patients with lymphatic and other edema conditions affecting the arms, legs, breast, trunk, head and neck, and genital areas. In 2013, she pursued further specialization in pelvic floor physical therapy through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, working with individuals experiencing urinary incontinence, urinary urgency, fecal incontinence, constipation, and pelvic organ prolapse.
In 2014, Mary joined Springfield Clinic, dedicating herself exclusively to lymphedema and pelvic floor disorders. Due to the increasing demand for lymphedema services, she later transitioned to focusing solely on lymphedema patients.

Now, Mary has joined Keldermans Therapy Services to bring her expertise in lymphedema and cancer rehabilitation to Springfield and Sangamon County.
